IMPORTANT!
BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO TAKE A GUINEA PIG HOME WITH YOU (WHETHER YOU ADOPT ONE FROM PIGGY KINGDOM OR BUY ONE OR TWO FROM A LOCAL PET SHOP OR BREEDER) PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. GUINEA PIGS LIVE AT LEAST 5 YEARS, EVEN LONGER AND THEY NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR LIFETIME. THAT INCLUDES CLEANING THEIR LIVING SPACE REGULARLY, FEEDING THEM EVERY DAY, CHANGING THEIR WATER, PAYING VET BILLS WHEN NECESSARY, TAKING THEM FOR HOLIDAYS OR ARRANGING A SUITABLE CARE AT THAT TIME AND GENERALLY INCLUDING THEM IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS. YOU ALSO NEED TO SHOP FOR THEM AND REMEMBER TO DO IT REGULARLY. THEY NEED A LOT OF HAY, FRESH BEDDING, SOME STRAW IN WINTER TO KEEP THEM WARM, FRESH VEGETABLES AND FRUIT AND OF COURSE THEY NEED A HOUSE, A HUTCH OR AN INDOOR CAGE, THE BIGGER THE BETTER. THEY COULD ALSO DO WITH AN OUTDOOR RUN IN SUMMER SO THEY CAN GRAZE ON A FRESH GRASS WHEN IT'S AVAILABLE.
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN'T DO IT, DON'T GET GUINEA PIGS!
The minimum you have to be able to offer to your Guinea Pig/s is 5 freedoms specified in Animal Welfare Act 2006:
• somewhere suitable to live
• a proper diet, including fresh water
• the ability to express normal behaviour
• for any need to be housed with, or apart from, other animals
• protection from, and treatment of, illness and injury.

- We will not allow children to adopt Guinea Pigs.
- An adult has to be present and aware of all the responsibilities lying on their shoulders regarding the animal's welfare.
- Guinea Pigs from Piggy Kingdom can only be adopted as pets, they cannot be used for breeding
- Should
the new owner become unable to take care of the Guinea Pigs adopted
from Piggy Kingdom, we reserve the right to have the first refusal before you decide to rehome them and unless the rescue is full to the brim we'll always take them back
- Reptile owners will be refused adoption
Guinea Pigs are social animals and they need each others company. Piggy Kingdom Rescue will only offer Guinea Pigs for pet homes in same gender pairs or trios that have been bonded together and they will not be split under any circumstances. Very rarely there will be a single Guinea Pig up for adoption if she or he doesn't get on with any other Guinea Pig and there is no hope of bonding them at all. All Guinea Pigs will leave with their laminated Adoption Certificate, small bag of change over food and hay.
