Lucky and Luciano were left in our care in March 2013, they were unwanted pets, still a bit skittish but a lot better than at the beginning. Boys are around 9 or 10 month old so still very young. Guinea Pigs can live on average 5-7 years, with proper care even 10! Those boys deserve a second chance at finding their loving family so please think twice before you decide to adopt them.
Don't forget to scroll down for a gallery of PIGtures of Lucky and Luciano.!
If you want to offer a loving permanent pet home to Lucky and Luciano, please read the adoption rules and make an appointment to visit Piggy Kingdom. We don't make it difficult to adopt, you just sign the adoption agreement and U can take the Piggies home on the same day however we will not let any of them go to homes where they would be bred from. There is enough and more than needed breeders within and around the cavy fancy desperate to sell their stock. Many of the Guinea Pig offered by such breeders, including and especially the show circles are not even suitable as pets due to close inbreeding and line breeding practices (breeding on a very small gene pool, which means related animals are mated to produce show quality individuals) and possible genetic weaknesses resulting from those unacceptable practices. Any pairs of Guinea Pigs available for adoption from Piggy Kingdom are strictly and only available to loving and forever pet homes.

TERMS OF ADOPTION
All Adoptions of Guinea Pigs from Piggy Kingdom are offered to Adopters subject to the following conditions:
- The Adopter agrees that the adopted Guinea Pig shall at all times be housed in an appropriate and humane way (that is, in a sufficiently spacious indoor cage or outdoor hutch, not subject to damp or entirely deprived of light).
- The Adopter agrees that the adopted Guinea Pig shall be daily provided with a sufficient diet of food and water – including but not limited to the following items: grass and/or hay, guinea pig food (mix/nuggets/pellets), fresh fruit and vegetables.
- The Adopter agrees that the adopted Guinea Pig shall be permitted to express its natural behaviours as far as is possible (for example, running in a protected outdoor pen and being able to graze on fresh grass is one of such natural behaviours).
- The Adopter agrees that the adopted Guinea Pig shall be taken to a veterinary practice in the event of illness, infection or injury and that the option of 'putting down' (euthanasia) is only turned to as a last resort after all others have been exhausted.
- The Adopter agrees that the adopted Guinea Pig is not being adopted for breeding purposes and will at no time be used for the breeding of offspring. Guinea Pigs are offered for Adoption by Piggy Kingdom strictly subject to the present condition.
- The Adopter agrees that s/he shall contact Piggy Kingdom if s/he is no longer able to look after the adopted Guinea Pig, at which point arrangements will be made for the Guinea Pig to be rehoused in Piggy Kingdom at the earliest opportunity.

PIGGY KINGDOM is a small independently run Rescue with between 50 to 100 Guinea Pigs and up to 12 Rabbits. We take in unwanted pets and try to find new loving homes for them providing they do not have any serious health or behavioural issues. We accept any maltreated or neglected Guinea Pigs, no matter what their age and state of health is, dependent, of course, upon available space. We nurture them back to good health and happiness, and if they are suitable to be rehomed they can be offered to loving pet homes, either in same sex pairs or trios. Donations of cages, runs, bowls, bottles, food, hay, bedding etc. are always welcome. We also take in excess stock from breeders, ex-breeding sows and boars. If in a poor condition, we will nurse them to good health and offer them for rehoming if appropriate. Otherwise, they are all welcome at Piggy Kingdom till they go over the magic Rainbow Bridge!
At Piggy Kingdom Rescue we regularly have several pairs of lovely, well-bonded boars and/or sows available for immediate adoption. We have numerous different types of Guinea Pigs, mostly crosses, though some pure-bred if they have come from breeders. We have smooth-haired, rough-coated, long-haired and short-haired, many of them with interesting markings, colours and crests/rosettes. Our cavies have either been left with us by pet owners unable to care for them or rescued from situations of maltreatment or neglect. We take considerable time to bond pairs or trios and we ensure that they get on really well with each other before being offered for rehoming. Occasionally it takes several attempts at pairing piggies up successfully, much being dependent on the character and friendliness of individual Guinea Pig. Gender is not of vital importance. However, boars are more likely to fall out with each other while sows do fight and hurt one another badly if not bonded properly or there is a personality conflict. The difference between sows and boars, when it comes to rehoming them, is that whereas sows happily live in large groups, boars will not easily make more than a happy trio, and usually just a duet. However, once they are happily living together they are inseparable and it is a joy to watch them cuddling up together. It is worth noting, nonetheless, that the arrival of a new sow in a small herd can seriously unsettle the whole group if introduction is not carried out carefully. At Piggy Kingdom Rescue we handle our Guinea Pigs daily, especially those that are available for adoption. However, being “prey” animals, their instinct tells them to run when they perceive any danger, and some Guinea Pigs are simply shy, requiring a lot of time to become friendly pets. Once tamed and trusting though, they can even learn a few tricks like going in a circle or jumping through a hoop (see 'YouTube' for some inspiration!). They are food motivated therefore fairly easy to train once they get over the initial fear of contact with new human carers. What we make a habit of at Piggy Kingdom Rescue is to handle our Piggies in such a way as to get them used to being picked up, stroked, brushed and manicured. When our Piggies move to their new home environment they may be stressed for a while due to new setting: new smells, different routines, new sounds and unfamiliar faces. They need time to settle and build up a relationship of trust. When adopting a Guinea Pig or a pair you need to take this into account and give them time to get to know you and their new home. Once a part of your family they will give you back more than you ever dreamed of. - You will discover they are truly the most amazing little creatures in the world and one can't help but love the dearly!
